When was the last time you saw an original Uncut Bronco Ranger that was rust free and totally restored back-to-factory? Well, that is what this '74 is going to look like when we're done. This extremely rare Un-Cut '74 Ranger package is a perfect candidate for a quality Rocky Roads Restoration, and that restoration is currently underway.
Un-Cut original fender trucks are becoming tougher and tougher to locate these days... but with a little luck, and some help from 'Bronco Scouts' around the country... we manage to find them once in a while. This Ranger package is going to receive extensive body work, hours & hours of careful prep & a few new body panels to insure it comes out looking fantastic when it's done! It is going to be fully restored inside & outside, plus the underneath will be pressure washed, wire brush prepped, the tub fully undercoated and entire undercarriage blacked out in a high quality satin black finish.
The original factory 302 engine has been pulled, and is going out to the rebuild shop this weekend. The C-4 automatic transmission will also be rebuilt. The engine bay is very straight, and 100% rust free. The core support is nearly perfect, which tells us it's likely never been hit. It has a factory automatic transmission that shifts great, with 6 turn power steering and the shifter on the column. It currently has drum brakes all around, a Dana 44 front axle and a Ford 9" open diff in the rear, and new front power disc brakes & new drum brakes in the back will soon be applied. A 12 gallon front tank, and new 23 gallon rear fuel tank and all new fuel lines & brake lines will also be installed to insure completely proper functionality.
After the pressure wash, it went to the body shop to get 2 new floor pans installed. Now, it is 100% rust free. We are planning to bring the engine back-to-original during this restoration by installing the original 2 barrel carburetor and intake manifold. We will be adding electronic ignition & all new engine bay components like a new wiper/washer bottle, radiator overflow bottle, etc.
The bodywork & preperation has been started. This restoration will be very close to a Frame-Off. After the windshield & seal are removed, and the prep is done, a DuPont chroma base 2-stage paint job will be applied in the original Vineyard Gold color. The engine bay will be restored in a matching color, and will look like new. New aluminum belt line Ranger trim will be installed, along with new polished aluminum grille trim.
After that process has been completed, a black Linex interior bedliner will be carefully applied. After Linex, it will receive freshly restored black factory bucket seats front and rear, new matching RR pleated vinyl door panels, rear side panels, and a new tailgate panel. New removable 'loop' carpet mats will be installed, along with a new black locking center console, locking Tuffy glove box, and Tuffy rear console, with new Alpine IPOD CD stereo system with 2 speakers set into the rear side panels with a new factory chrome antenna. The dash and all it's pulls & bezels will be restored back to factory, and an original AM radio & speaker will be installed. The steering column will also be restored, along with a new turn signal switch, wiring, and clean factory steering wheel & horn ring. It also has a near perfect dash pad!
The front chrome bumper going to be replaced with a new chrome bumper with a set of new 'Bumperettes' to bring it back to how the Ranger package was set up from from the factory. We decided to change out the rear bumper to a new chrome rear bumper, and add a factory spare tire carrier & matching spare. A set of chrome step-up bars 'may' also be installed.
It currently has a 2.5" lift and Rancho 5000 shocks with original wheels and some slightly oversized BFG All Terrain tires. These shocks will be replaced with new Rancho 9000 nine-way adjustable shocks, and it will get new variable rate coil springs for a softer ride. We will be installing some nice hub caps, too.
A black 4 point Smittybilt roll bar will also be installed, along with new black roll bar padding & wrapping. Additional features may be added before the truck is completed, which may further raise the price. Look for this lovely Bronco to be completed around the end of March.
NOTE: We can still remove some of the features we're planning to install if someone has a smaller budget than our 'estimated price upon completion', but we would LOVE to take this one all of the way, and that price reflects the costs involved in getting the job done right. ***This Bronco will also come with a professional appraisal to prove it's value for your insurance.
Estimated price upon completion: $37,500.00
Add: Under-dash air conditioning: $39,500.00
Add: 'Legend' suspension package: call for price
